Returns

You can return most items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund to your original payment method. Items must be unused, in their original condition and packaging, with proof of purchase.

The following cannot be returned: [e.g. gift cards, perishable goods, personalised items, intimate or sanitary goods, sale items].

How to start a return

  • Email [contact email] with your order number and the reason for the return.
  • We will reply with return instructions and the address to send the item to. Items sent without contacting us first may not be accepted.
  • Pack the item securely and keep your proof of postage.

Return shipping

You are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item arrived damaged, defective or incorrect. Original shipping charges are not refundable.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return we will email you to confirm whether it is approved. Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within [10] business days; your bank or card issuer may take a few more days to post it.

Damaged, defective or wrong items

EU and UK customers

Write the policy you can actually honour

A refund policy is a promise. Customers read it before buying, and card networks and marketplaces use it in disputes. Keep the window, conditions and timings realistic, list non-returnable items explicitly, and make the steps to start a return obvious.

Statutory rights sit underneath your policy. In the EU and UK, consumers have a 14-day right to withdraw from most distance purchases (Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU; UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013), and faulty goods remain your responsibility regardless of a "no returns" policy.

Can I have a no-refund policy?

You can offer no voluntary returns, and the generator supports "all sales final". But you still have to handle faulty or misdescribed goods under consumer law, and EU/UK consumers keep their 14-day withdrawal right for most online purchases.

Where should the return policy go?

On its own page linked from your footer and from the checkout or cart page. Shopify, Etsy and marketplace sellers can paste it into the store's policy settings.

Is it really free? Do I need an account?

Yes, and no. Every generator is free with no sign-up, watermark or paywall. Your answers stay in your browser; they are never sent to our server unless you use the optional AI clause writer or policy checker.

Is a generated policy legal advice?

No. PolicyForge produces a starting template from your answers. It cannot know every detail of your business or every law that applies to you. Read the whole document, replace every [bracketed] placeholder, make sure it describes what you actually do, and have a lawyer review it if you handle sensitive data, sell to children, or operate at scale.
